Leave in conditioners are undeniably essential for anyone who wants healthy hair. They work by coating the hair strands to prevent damage and tangling. They are different from regular conditioners and deep conditioners because they are usually not as thick and because they don’t build up on the scalp or hair, they don’t need to be rinsed out.

Sadly, so many leave in conditioners are quite expensive. Also, a large number of leave in conditioners available in the market contain ingredients like petroleum jelly, mineral oil, silicones, parabens, et al which can damage the hair.

Whether you’re looking for cheaper alternatives, or you want to be able to control what goes into your hair, these leave in conditioning recipes will be great for your hair. You can make them all by yourself at home with cheap and readily available ingredients.

1. SHEA BUTTER MOISTURIZING CONDITIONER
You will need:
Shea butter(1/2 a cup)
Honey(optional)(1 tbsp)
Coconut oil(1 tsp)
Olive oil(1 tsp)
1/2 tsp of any essential oil of your choice.(optional)

Make the shea butter soft by mixing it with a hand mixer or with a wooden spoon. Put all ingredients into a mixing bowl. Mix thoroughly with a wooden spoon or with a hand mixer. Apply to hair after shampooing, after moisturizing or before styling. Store in a container in a fridge and use within 2-4 weeks.

Shea butter is excellent for sealing in the moisture into your hair. It is also a great hair conditioner that is suitable for hair types.
Honey is a great humectant and conditioner. A humectant attracts water vapour from the atmosphere to the hair. Therefore, honey works to keep your hair moisturized all the time.
