Curl Inspiration: Olajumoke

Beautiful Olajumoke is our Curl Inspiration of the month!

My name is Olajumoke. I’m a medical student. I have a type 4b hair.

Does your hair have a name you call it?

No it doesn’t.

Who or what inspired you to go natural?

Staying natural was a personal decision. However, being able to flaunt my natural was inspired by a lot of people I don’t even know personally- people whose pictures I saw online. Two of my classmates made it real :D-Zode, she has such beautiful hair you can’t help but just love😍, and Nimi too, she’s so good with styling natural hair.

How long have you been natural?

I’ve been natural for more than 5 years now.

What is your weekly regimen like?

Most times my hair is in a PS, then when I’m off d PC, I DC my hair with coconut milk and sometimes straighten it. I don’t do anything too stressful.

What is one hair product you can’t do without?

I love love shea butter, I make sure I never run out of it. I also love olive oil and African black soap.

Do you have any bad hair habits?

I’m sometimes lazy with my hair. I could leave my hair for days without doing anything to it just because I would be indoors🙈

Are you a product junkie?

No I’m not. I just stick to what works for me

What is the hardest thing about having natural hair?

I think the hardest thing is the maintenance. Keeping healthy hair is not a simple thing to do.

Is having natural hair just a phase for you, or is it long term?

Having natural hair is a forever thing for me:)

Are you afraid of using heat on your hair?

It depends on what I’m doing with the heat. Hair dryers are a no no no for me

What is your favourite stretching method?

I love the African threading method, I’ve not done that in a while though.

What is the worst comment anyone ever made about your hair?

I really don’t remember any, I get just enough compliments to forget the bad comments.

Advice to new naturals

Love and enjoy ur hair, and stick with what works for you.

How can we stalk you?

Stalk me? LOL. 58D52EFC- that’s my BBM pin

I am a medical student residing in Lagos, Nigeria. I have worn my hair natural(unpermed) since 2013, and here I share my experiences. I'm not perfect, but I believe that natural is a journey on which we are constantly learning.
